What to Expect

Let the planting develop.

Bluebonnets are a spring-season highlight in suitable conditions, while other annuals and perennials bring their own flowering windows. Hard-coated bluebonnet seed can germinate over more than one season. Perennials generally need time to establish and may flower more strongly in later years. The flowers shown will not necessarily bloom together; weather, soil, sowing date, and care affect the display.

How to Plant

Prepare, sow, and press.

Clear competing grass and weeds to expose the soil. Mix the seed thoroughly and broadcast evenly over a firm, prepared surface; press for good seed-to-soil contact without burying the mix deeply. Keep the seedbed gently moist through germination and establishment, then water as conditions require. Choose well-drained ground and avoid heavy fertilizer. This is an ornamental flower planting, not a livestock forage mix.
