The idea
A small garden you notice after sunset.
Midnight Moth Garden™ is not a conventional seed blend. It is a little composition: low Sweet Mignonette where you can smell it, colorful Flowering Tobacco through the middle, and tall Common Evening Primrose behind it. A 125-square-foot planting is roughly a 10 × 12 foot bed, a 5 × 25 foot border, or several smaller connected pockets around a porch or patio.

Flowering Tobacco ‘Sensation Mixed’
Pink, white, purple, and carmine trumpet-shaped flowers on 18–36 inch plants. This is the strongest fragrance player in the kit.
Front / near seating
Sweet Mignonette
Only 6–12 inches tall. The flowers are visually modest, but the point is their sweet, old-fashioned, perfume-like fragrance close to paths and chairs.
What it smells like
Fragrance that makes more sense at dusk.
This is not one uniform perfume. The three plants contribute different layers, and the experience depends on weather, temperature, plant density, and where you stand in the garden.
Flowering Tobacco
Sweet and floral, with the classic rich fragrance associated with old-fashioned Nicotiana. The flowers are fragrant and the scent is especially suited to an evening garden.
Sweet Mignonette
Small flowers with an outsized scent—sweet, perfume-like, and often perceived as warm or honeyed. Put it where you will actually walk or sit nearby.
Evening Primrose
A lighter note: the yellow flowers open at dusk and have a mild lemon-floral fragrance that helps attract night-flying moths. Watching a bud open can be part of the show.
How it behaves
Do not expect all three plants to perform on the same clock.
First season
Tobacco + Mignonette lead.
Both are annuals and can flower in their first growing season. Tobacco supplies the taller color and strong fragrance; mignonette fills the low front edge with scent.
Later season / following year
Primrose changes the garden.
Common Evening Primrose is normally biennial. It may form a rosette first, then rise several feet and produce pale yellow flowers from summer into fall in its flowering year. It can reseed where conditions suit it.

Flowering Tobacco
Besides its evening fragrance, the mixed-color trumpet flowers work in cottage gardens and can be cut for small arrangements. Grouping several plants together also makes the scent easier to notice near a patio or path.
Sweet Mignonette
Its small white flower clusters are modest but intensely fragrant. It also works well in containers and window boxes, which makes it easy to bring the perfume close to a porch or seating area, and its flowers attract honey bees.
Evening Primrose
The dusk-opening flowers are part of the spectacle, not just decoration. In its flowering year, the plant can reseed where conditions suit it; later seed capsules also provide seed that visiting birds may use.
Ornamental garden note
Flowering Tobacco is not edible.
Grow Nicotiana as an ornamental flower only. Do not ingest the leaves or flowers.
How to sow
Plant the packets separately.
Choose the site.
Pick a sunny to partly sunny, well-drained bed, border, or group of connected pockets where evening fragrance can be enjoyed.
Clear and loosen.
Remove weeds and expose actual soil. Loosen the upper surface so small seed can make contact with the soil.
Lay out three zones.
Back: primrose. Middle: tobacco. Front / near seating: mignonette. Do not combine the three packets into one broadcast mix.
Sow shallowly.
These are small seeds. Scatter each packet over its intended zone and press into the prepared surface. Do not bury deeply.
Keep the seedbed evenly moist.
Water gently enough not to wash seed away. Maintain consistent surface moisture through germination and early establishment, then adjust watering as plants mature.
Let the layers develop.
Do not judge the garden too early. Mignonette stays low, tobacco fills the middle, and primrose may take a second season to deliver its full flowering role.

Very fine seed. Annual. Full sun to partial shade. Moderate moisture. Fragrant mixed-color trumpet flowers, generally 18–36 inches tall.
Sweet Mignonette
Reseda odorata
Annual. Full sun to partial shade. Moderate moisture. Low 6–12 inch plants; small white flowers grown primarily for fragrance.

Fragrance strength, bloom timing, height, and pollinator activity vary with climate, soil, water, plant density, and local insect populations. The kit is designed to stack the odds in favor of a memorable evening garden, but nature still gets the final say.
